Red Deer Curling Centre Board of Directors Nomination Invite
by October 16, 2026 @ 4:30 PM
The Red Deer Curling Centre is seeking nominations to fill three (3) vacancies on our Board of Directors.
Serving on the Board is an opportunity to help shape the long-term direction and future success of the Red Deer Curling Centre. We are looking to engage members who care about RDCC, care about our curling community, and ensure that the Centre remains strong, vibrant and sustainable for years to come.
RDCC's vision is to be the premier destination for curling, events and social experiences. Our mission is to provide a dynamic and inclusive environment where curling and diverse events cultivate community, foster competition and provide enriched experiences.
What are we looking for?
We welcome nominations from members who bring different experience, perspective and ideas to the Board. We are interested in individuals who:
• Are thoughtful, collaborative and willing to contribute;
• Bring experience in areas such as leadership, business, finance, governance, marketing, sponsorship, community engagement, technology, legal, human resources and operations; or simply bring an interest for the growth of RDCC and a desire to contribute to its future success;
• Are open to new ideas, opportunities and different perspectives;
• Have an interest in the long-term sustainability and success of RDCC;
• Are willing to actively participate in Board meetings and committees as required.
Prior Board experience is not required. We encourage both long-time and newer RDCC members to consider getting involved. A strong Board benefits from a mix of backgrounds, skills and perspectives.
What can you expect?
Board service is voluntary and provides an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to RDCC and the broader curling community. Directors can expect to:
• Attend monthly Board meetings, generally 1-2 hours in length;
• Participate in committees or other Board initiatives as required;
• Review information and come prepared to contribute to Board discussions and decisions;
• Share their knowledge, experience and ideas while considering what is best for RDCC as a whole;
• Work collaboratively with fellow Directors and RDCC leadership to help guide the organization's
future.
The role of the Board is to provide leadership and oversight while keeping a long-term view of the
organization. Board members have an opportunity to help strengthen RDCC, support it's continued
growth and ensure it remains a welcoming and successful organization for current and future
generation of curlers and community members.
Board eligibility and terms
Under the RDCC Bylaws, Directors must be RDCC member of at least 18 years of age. The Board consists of a minimum of five and a maximum of nine Directors. Directors are elected by the membership at the Annual General Meeting for terms of one, two or three years; with terms structured to support continuity on the Board. The three (3) vacant positions are for three-year terms.
Why consider serving?
Serving on the RDCC Board is a chance to give back to an organization that brings people together through sport, events and community. It is also an opportunity to build relationships, contribute your experience, learn more about the organization and have a direct role in helping RDCC prepare for the future. Exciting things are happening and this is your chance to get involved.
